Hola a todos! Ahora regreso con las entrevistas, esta vez a Robban Back el batero de BILLION DOLLAR BABIES =). Hace poco les hice un post, sobre el EP "STAND YOUR GROUND". Ahora pude hablar con Robban exactamente el viernes que paso, pero recien ahora posteo esto! Bueno a continuacion la entrevista =)
How did u guys meet?
-We met at a the local bar, we were drinking like crazy and raising hell. The morning after two of us woke up in a cell at policestation and said: lets start a band!! (true story)
Is there any funny story behind the band’s name? why u chose this name?
-We took the name Billion Dollar Babies cause we LOVE Alice Cooper!!
What are ur main influences (of all band members), speaking about bands of all times?
-KISS!!! We ALL think KISS is the best freakin band of all times!!
Could you tell us about the songs on this Demo cd? How was the creative process for these songs?
-We are always writng songs together at the rehearsal room, even though one of us mostly have the first big idea for the song. Two of those songs, Restless Mind and Stand Your Ground, is mostly a product of Jon. He always tend to create very melodig stuf in the spirit ofd bon jovi!! The other two is more riff-oriented and were mainly Frankies ideas from the start. He is the riff-meister of the band!!

How come u guys doesn’t have a record deal yet? Have u had conversations with some record labels? We are expecting a full length album soon. How close is this about to happen?
We have acctually been talking to some labels/producers but noone has come up with an interesting offer yet! We wanna work with guys that burns for our music and are willing to work just as hard for our succes as we have done the last couple of years!
How come u Swedish musicians are so gifty for this glam metal sleazy sound?
We dont really see our selves as a “sleaze band”. We are more of a heavy glam band. As I said we love alice cooper and kiss (the glam scene) but doesnt give to much a damn about bands like poison our pretty boy floyd... and Sweden really is a great music country!! We have lots of great bands in all kinds of different genres. Look at ABBA, ROXETTE, THE HIVES, MESHUGGAH, all great bands that for sure have put their mark in music history and have influenced soo many around the world. Bottom line for us is, dont think about things in genres. Just look and listen, either you like or dislike it!!=)
During the last 5 years, We´ve seen a lot of glam, sleaze metal bands from Sweden that remind us to that 80´s sound that was so in in the mid 80´s and early 90´s. Do you think the scene is over populating? I have started to hear that kind of opinions lately. What do you think about that?.
Yeah, for sure. There are too many guys out there trying to be someone from a decade they event cant remember have lived in!! I mean lets face it, its all about provoking your audience. Bands like TWISTED SISTER were provoking in the eighties cause they pretty much dressed up like strippers or sometimes cheap whores, and for me that doesnt work anymore. In our band we are more of trying to creat a glamourus, rich and sexy style! We are not trying to look like anyone else, and we dont want anyone else to try and copy our looks!!
We wanna know a little bit about u Robban, could you tell us please how did u join the band, and in which bands u played before?
A, how sweet!!=) Me and Frankie are the founders of the band. We sat down one day and said to each other; FUCK, lets make the best band around!! As a drummer I work with all kinds of different bands, for example PREY, ECLIPSE and BALLS. When I dont play drums I like to hang at the beach, barbeque and drive fast cars!!=)
When did you start doing music, or playing it, and how was it? Did u have a defined style in music at the beginning?
As I said, me and Frankie started the band. Before we did, we had been playing around in all kinds of different bands and genres. This “style” we are doing know is something we were longing to do for a longtime but never got a chance to play 100 procent!!
Who do you consider being your major influence musically? What band, or drums player?
I listen to all kinds of music and drummers. Some favourites are Tommy Lee, Eric Singer and Vikk Foxx (De Enuff Z'Nuff). Showmanship is very important to me!! Its very rad to spin your stix alot and stil be able to keep the time/groove. I also love more teqnicual guys like Mike Portnoy and Tomas Haake...

Do u have any plans to come to southamerica soon? What do u know about ur fans here in Southamerica?
We would love to come to southamerica! We know that there is alot of rockers overthere and the girls are BEAUTIFUL!!!=) we acctually have a brasilian fansite on myspace!!

jajajaja eso pasa la mayoria de mujeres que saben de musica o tienen su nicho son confundidas con flacos. bueno, y como hiziste para ponerle musica a tu blog? ya estamos hablando! facil podemos hasta cambiar discos si te interesa probar sonidos diferentes... saludos!
